N’Golo Kante has been named in the France squad on Thursday for the upcoming international break – and some Chelsea fans are frightened about their player’s fitness after hearing the news.

French national coach Didier Deschamps has included the £30million Chelsea ace in his 23-man squad for World Cup qualifiers later this month against Kazakhstan and Finland.

The all-action central midfielder is obviously a key figure for his country, making his 50th cap the last time he represented them back in the summer at Euro 2020.

However, the 30-year-old was withdrawn from the September international break with an ankle problem after originally joining up with the camp. Also, he missed the October meet up because of COVID-19.

Chelsea fans worry for Kante

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are predicting more injury blows for Kante when he links up with France.

He’s had a couple of problems in the past when away with his country, so naturally some of the fanbase are fearful.

In fairness, the midfielder’s body is put through so much work when he steps on to the pitch with his sheer energy and enthusiasm. Therefore, the numerous small injuries he’s started getting in the last couple of years is no surprise.

There is an element of Kante needing to be careful and not overloading his body with too many minutes in a short space of time. Fortunately, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has high quality options in his squad to rotate.

However, Deschamps is looking at it from the perspective of France manager and he clearly wants to be playing one of the world’s elite midfielders.

Here are some Chelsea fans reacting to the Kante news:

Is Kante fit for Saturday?

Chelsea play at home to Burnley this Saturday in the Premier League, but it’s unclear on if Kante is available.

You’d suspect he is in a good place if France are calling him up.

Tuchel left him out of the squad in midweek during the Champions League trip to Malmo.

“We took the decision to build up N’Golo at home, so that he becomes a little bit more robust after several little injuries in the last weeks,” Tuchel said.
