Chelsea have delivered a boost regarding the fitness of Raheem Sterling.

Sterling, 28, has missed the club’s last four consecutive games after suffering a hamstring injury earlier in January against Manchester City.

However, the Blues announced some positive news yesterday evening regarding the £50million star.

Chelsea confirmed on their official website Sterling has been involved in some light individual training work on the grass.

He’s stepped up his return from he hamstring problem, with the club confirming his rehabilitation is “going well”.

Sterling’s injury blow came at the worst time, with Christian Pulisic suffering an issue in the very same match to put him on the sidelines.

There’s been movement in January to reinforce the wide positions, with talented duo Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke both arriving in the past couple of weeks.

Sterling’s immediate focus will be getting back to full fitness. Afterwards, the England international has fresh competition and teammates alongside him at Stamford Bridge.

There’s been some speculation circling about the 28-year-old’s future in west London, which is odd given he only joined from Man City last summer. However, journalist Simon Phillips told GiveMeSport this week that Sterling is “definitely” not leaving Chelsea in the January window.

Sterling didn’t hit top gear in the opening half of the season, but six goals in 22 games still makes him Chelsea’s joint-top scorer this campaign.

Hopefully, the speedster can kick into action when he’s back from injury with some big games ahead.

He proved at the Etihad Stadium he can thrive in an environment with big competition for places, so perhaps a few news faces through the building will help everyone raise their levels.
