Graham Potter has confirmed that Reece James is an injury doubt ahead of Chelsea’s match against Leeds United tomorrow.

James, who’s had his fair share of injury problems already this season, is certainly a key player in the Blues line-up.

However, the 23-year-old defender may be unavailable this weekend:

“Reece has a little bit of tightness in his hamstring. We’re just assessing him but he’s doubtful for tomorrow,” Potter said in his pre-match press conference.

It sounds like James won’t play a part this Saturday against Leeds, which is a serious blow for a really important game.

The right-back has been regaining his form and fitness with plenty of games in the last few weeks, but another injury issue looks like it’ll disrupt him again.

Hopefully, this hamstring problem isn’t too severe. Chelsea’s head coach didn’t sound overly concerned when he flagged the injury today.

It’s more bad news though for Potter ahead of the home match against Leeds, which many feel will be a really important one for his future.

Chelsea will have 19-year-old full-back Malo Gusto to call upon in times like this next season, but he doesn’t link up with the squad until the summer once his loan at Lyon finishes.

We suspect Trevoh Chlobah will slot into the right-back in a back four, which is a position he can do well in.

However, losing a creative option like James is just what the team doesn’t need when they’re massively struggling to score goals.
