Graham Potter confirms that N’Golo Kante may be in the Chelsea squad to face Everton tomorrow.

Kante, who’s not played since mid-August through injury, has never been available to play under Potter.

However, the Blues head coach suggests he could pick the £30million star for the very first time this weekend.

When asked about Kante’s fitness, Potter replied: “Chance of being in the squad. It’s the first time [under me], so it’s fantastic.”

Potter later added: “There have been managers before me that have spoken very highly about N’Golo because he’s a top, top player… He’s been a huge miss to us.”

We expect Kante will need a while longer to get anywhere near full match fitness, but the imminent two-week break for international games works in his favour.

The 31-year-old has been slightly forgotten down to the fact he’s only played two games all season.

This is a French midfielder who can be one of the very best on his day, though.

Everyone is curious to see how good he can still be because injuries are becoming a regular part of his game in recent years.

If the best version of Kante still exists, we could see something quite special in the Chelsea midfield with him alongside Enzo Fernandez and Mateo Kovacic.

Chelsea play Real Madrid in just under a month, with the teams drawn together this morning in the Champions League quarter-finals. Incidentally, Simon Jordan predicts the Blues will lose the two-legged European tie.

Kante has dropped some magnificent performances against the Spanish giants in recent times, so it would be fantastic to have him back and playing regularly by then.
