'He'll be involved': Graham Potter confirms he's putting £100k-a-week player back in Chelsea's squad tonight
Graham Potter has confirmed that Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech will be back in the squad today against Brentford.
Chelsea face London neighbours Brentford on Wednesday night in the Premier League.
For the Blues, they have won their last four consecutive league matches to climb up to fourth in the league standings. Meanwhile, opponents Brentford currently sit ninth after a fairly strong start this campaign.
Ziyech back against Brentford
Chelsea boss Potter has shared that he’ll be putting Ziyech back in the match day squad this evening.
The £100,000-a-week winger has been missing from the squad in the previous two games because of illness.
However, the 29-year-old player is back to give the Blues another option in attack.
“He’s fine. He’s trained the last few days so he’ll be involved against Brentford,” Potter said.
“He had a really heavy cold which knocked him about for a few days, so the game against Villa came too soon, but he’s trained well recently, so he’ll be involved.”
Ziyech hasn’t actually started in any of Potter’s opening six games as Chelsea boss, albeit some of his recent absence has been down to fitness.
In any case, the Moroccan’s position in the side appears to be a major threat right now.
90min recently claimed that Chelsea are ready to try offload Ziyech when the January transfer window comes around.
The left-footed playmaker fell out of favour with Thomas Tuchel during the end of his reign, but Potter’s arrival has given the entire squad a clean slate. Unfortunately, Ziyech appears to be facing another uphill battle for minutes.
If Potter can somehow find a tune out of Ziyech, he’ll feel like a new signing at Stamford Bridge.
