Armando Broja received plenty of warmth from the Chelsea family following surgery on his ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

Broja uploaded a photo onto his Instagram yesterday after the operation, telling fans that the procedure was ‘successful’ and that it was time to ‘rest up before starting my road to recovery’.

Understandably, the Albanian’s post was flooded with well wishes and support.

John Terry and Ben Chilwell were just two of the Chelsea community to leave their love in the replies.

Marc Cucurella, Lewis Hall, Trevoh Chalobah and Omari Hutchinson also sent some social media affection to their club colleague.

Sadly, this is as close Broja will get to his teammates for a while.

Armando Broja side-lined through surgery

The 21-year-old is set to miss the rest of the season due to the serious wound he picked up in a friendly against Aston Villa earlier this month.

Graham Potter might be rueing the relatively underwhelming and meaningless fixture that played out in Abu Dhabi.

Not only did his side lose 1-0, he is now without one of his few recognised strikers.

Potter only really has Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to call upon as the traditional number nine, although Kai Havertz has history of playing through the middle.

Havertz did give his manager food for thought on Tuesday by scoring a hattrick in a 5-1 behind-closed-doors victory over Brentford.

Replicate this return against Bournemouth in the Premier League next week, and Potter will feel slightly more at ease with Broja’s absence.
