Raheem Sterling is reportedly set to sit out Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League meeting with Liverpool.

According to The Athletic, the England international will be out for at least another two weeks with a hamstring injury.

Sterling suffered the problem early in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at the beginning of the month.

He and Christian Pulisic were both forced off the Stamford Bridge pitch in the first-half, adding more woes to Graham Potter’s growing list of worries.

Whilst Pulisic is expected to be out for a while, his fellow wounded teammate might be back much sooner.

But Sterling will still definitely miss the game against Crystal Palace on Sunday, and potentially the trip to Anfield next Saturday.

He will be denied the chance to battle his former employers and manager, with Jurgen Klopp having called him ‘fantastic’ in the past.

The Athletic claim his most likely return date is before the Champions League tie with Borussia Dortmund in the middle of February.

Chelsea player another four Premier League games before that trip to Germany.

Potter is already without a host of senior players through injury, an absent list that grew even longer on Thursday night.

Denis Zakaria hobbled off the Craven Cottage surface with an unnamed issue.

Joao Felix’s debut for the Blues was cut short thanks to a straight red card just before the hour mark.

Chelsea’s XI might pick itself now ahead of the clash with Palace due to the reduced numbers of available bodies.
