Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek could reportedly be available to play against West Ham this weekend.

According to the Daily Mail on their deadline day live blog (8:16am, 1 September), Chelsea are set for some good news on their 26-year-old player.

It is understood Loftus-Cheek is expected to be ready in time to play in this Saturday’s Premier League fixture at home to West Ham.

This comes after he was forced off injured during the midweek loss at Southampton.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed in his post-match press conference after Southampton that Loftus-Cheek came off the pitch at half time with a “hamstring injury”.

Loftus-Cheek available against West Ham

It’s great news that Loftus-Cheek’s hamstring problem may not be as bad as supporters feared.

He’s been one of the few Blues players to impress this campaign, showing his versatility by playing as both a central midfielder and wing-back already.

In fact, Tuchel recently showered him with praise for his performances since pre-season.

Loftus-Cheek is someone that can build up ahead of steam when he gets momentum and a run of games in the starting line-up, so hopefully he’s in for a big individual season.

There’s competition for places in the centre of the park when everyone’s fully fit, but he’s getting chances at the start of this season.

An injury to Loftus-Cheek would have been crushing for both him and the manager, so fingers crossed this reported update is bang on the money.

Hopefully, Tuchel gives a clear indication in Friday’s press conference about the player’s fitness levels going into the weekend’s London derby.
