Thiago Silva will be missing for Chelsea this weekend in the Premier League fixture against Leeds United, according to reports.

In addition, the Blues defender is set to be absent next week against Borussia Dortmund as well.

Silva, who’s now 38, was forced off through injury during the first half of Sunday’s 2-0 league defeat away to Tottenham.

It means Blues supporters are now nervously waiting for an official update on his fitness.

According to The Times, Silva is having scans on his left knee after an awkward landing against Spurs.

The report claims Chelsea think their key centre-back will be out of action for at least a week, which would cause him to miss important games against Leeds and Dortmund.

First of all, Graham Potter’s side welcome Leeds to Stamford Bridge this Saturday in a league showdown. It feels vital they carve out a win after zero victories in their last five league matches.

Meanwhile, Chelsea need to overturn a 1-0 deficit next Tuesday when they host Dortmund in the second leg of a Champions League last 16 tie.

This latest injury blow sums up the negativity around Stamford Bridge right now.

Described as “phenomenal” by Chris Sutton, Silva may be the one player in the Chelsea squad they can’t live without.

The veteran centre-half continues to be the rock in the Blues defence, so coping without him in two massive games for Potter is a real concern.

Chelsea do have options in the backline with the likes of Wesley Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly, Benoit Badiashile and Trevoh Chalobah. But it’s worrying they won’t have the cool head of Silva, especially in a fiery clash with Leeds.
