Wesley Fofana has taken to Instagram to issue a positive update after suffering an injury in a behind closed doors friendly yesterday against Brentford.

Chelsea fans will have been ecstatic with finally receiving the good news that they had won 5-1 against Premier League opposition in Brentford, the same side they looked like they’d never score against before the World Cup.

Kai Havertz reportedly found the net three times, surely putting himself in contention for a start when the Blues welcome Bournemouth next week.

However, before they could get too carried away with the result, news broke that Fofana had been forced off the pitch with yet another knee injury.

It had been that same problem that saw his game against AC Milan come to an end just minutes after he’d scored his first goal for the club.

Original reports had claimed that although the severity of the injury was unknown, the emotion on the Frenchman’s face suggested it was a worrying moment.

However, he has commented on a fans Instagram post to ease worries that he would be set to miss a long period of the return to football.

He said: “Nothing bad champion in not even 1 month we’re back to break everything.”

With Chelsea needing a huge effort in the second half of the season to rescue a respectable finish, Graham Potter will need all of his first team players fit and firing.

Fofana’s injury before the World Cup saw Trevoh Chalobah feature in near enough every game for the Blues, with fatigue looking to finally play a part in the last few games before the break.

With the fixture pile-up not set to get any easier, Chelsea will need to have the ability to rotate in every position in order to keep everyone as fresh as possible.
