‘Will miss the game’: Tuchel names two Chelsea players who definitely won’t play against Brentford
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has named Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ben Chilwell as the two players in his squad that definitely won’t play against Brentford tomorrow.
The Blues return to action after the international break on Saturday afternoon with a home match against Brentford.
It’s an important Premier League game against a London rival, with a Champions League tie with Real Madrid taking place just a few days later.
Tuchel shared the injury news in today’s press conference that only two individuals are unavailable for the weekend.
“Team news, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ben Chilwell will miss the game tomorrow. Callum still feels his Achilles a little bit and has some lower back problems. Everybody else was in training,” Tuchel said.
For 25-year-old wing-back Chilwell, he’s a long-term injury absentee that’s not played since mid-November because of a knee problem.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old winger Hudson-Odoi remains out and hasn’t played since the beginning of March.
Some good news is it means Reece James is back and in contention, though.
Strong Chelsea group
Thankfully, Tuchel’s got nearly a full squad to pick from.
It’s an absolutely manic schedule in April for the Blues to navigate, which includes massive fixtures in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
There is so much for this group to play for amid the backdrop of the takeover saga.
If this side can win a trophy this season while all the off-field drama about the ownership takes place, it’ll go down with a special memory among supporters.
