Chelsea’s Jorginho was part of the Italy team last night that were embarrassingly beaten to end their World Cup dreams.
Italy have missed out on consecutive World Cup competitions after losing 1-0 to North Macedonia on Thursday night in a play-off qualifier. Aleksandar Trajkovski was the North Macedonian hero with a superb 92nd minute strike from outside the box to win the contest, as he helped set up a final next week with Portugal for a place at the World Cup tournament.
Roberto Mancini’s side won the Euros as recently as last summer by winning against England in the final, but they’re not a part of the prestigious World Cup in Qatar at the end of 2022.
Jorginho, who played the full game in the centre of the park, received a fairly harsh 4.5 match rating from Italian national media outlet TuttoMercatoWEB.
“Man-controlled by Bardi, even when he gets rid of man-marking he can’t make a difference,” TMW wrote. “Discreet in the first half hour, then drops to the distance.”

Jorginho’s a key player for both club and country, but couldn’t prevent a massive upset
The £50million central midfielder has played in some of the biggest games in the world, including a Champions League final and Euros final that he ended up on the winning side for in both.
However, the 30-year-old has remarkably never played at a World Cup competition.
