DFB has confirmed that Chelsea forward Kai Havertz has withdrawn from the Germany national team due to illness.
The German FA announced on Sunday that Havertz has travelled home and will miss out on their friendly fixture against Belgium on Tuesday.
According to Sport1, the Blues forward left the team hotel with a flu infection.
This is quite a surprise given Havertz featured for 75 minutes in Germany’s 2-0 win over Peru.
He assisted NIclas Fullkrug’s opening goal but later missed a penalty in the second half.

Interestingly, Havertz spoke about wanting to take more responsibility for the national team, including penalties, before that game, and it was the perfect opportunity to make a statement.
The 23-year-old has already earned Graham Potter’s trust to be the designated penalty taker at Chelsea.
Hopefully, he will recover in time for Chelsea’s clash with Aston Villa next weekend.
Havertz is not the only Chelsea player to have withdrawn from international duty with a fitness issue. Reece James has recently returned to Chelsea to assess a reported minor hamstring issue.
Before that, Mason Mount and Wesley Fofana also could not report for England and France due to a pelvic and a thigh injury, respectively.
Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Raheem Sterling also stay at the club’s Cobham training ground to nurse their injuries.
