Several Chelsea players have reacted to Noni Madueke’s impressive performance in England Under-21’s 4-0 win over France on Saturday.
It was a rather comfortable win for the Young Lions over a highly-rated side, but Madueke played a big part in it.
England only had a one-goal lead when the 21-year-old came on as a substitute in the 66th minute.
It did not take long for Madueke to make an impact, doubling the hosts’ lead 11 minutes later.
He then registered two assists before deservedly being named man of the match after the game.
The former PSV Eindhoven pointed out the mentality he had in that game.
“Focusing my mind on being ruthless,” the winger wrote on Instagram.
A number of his Chelsea teammates were unsurprisingly impressed by his remarkable display and left some supportive comments under the post.
“Shooter,” said Reece James.
“Bad guy,” wrote Wesley Fofana, who had to watch his compatriots suffer a huge defeat.
Trevoh Chalobah responded: “Step by step.”
Gabriel Slonina, who likely had to face Madueke’s shots in training already, said: “Regular tingzzz.”
The confidence boost could prove crucial for Madueke, who is still searching for his first goal contribution for Chelsea.
He also did not make the starting line-up for the Blues in March, with his six-minute cameo against Leeds being his only appearance this month.
It will take some patience before he can start ahead of the likes of Raheem Sterling or Joao Felix, but as he proved this weekend, he can be as useful to the team even as a substitute.
