Chelsea made it two wins from three in the International Champions Cup, but needed another penalty shoot-out to see through arch-nemesis Barcelona.
The Blues, who took the lead through Eden Hazard, were pegged back after the break with Suarez equalising, before Sandro put the Spaniards in front in the 66th minute. Cahill put club before the individual with a brave headed equaliser with four minutes remaining, and it was left to Courtois heroics again in the shoot-out.
Regardless of the outcome, it proved to be another big character test, against a big-name opponent. Mourinho opted for experience, with the likes of Courtois and Ivanovic lasting the full game.
Hazard was again the star name and put the Londoners ahead with an excellent run and shot, gliding past a host of Barcelona defenders before slotting calmly into the corner.
Suarez chipped in a highly controversial equaliser, with the ball seeing clearly on the line by the back-tracking Zouma. The American official, Allen Chapman, disagreed.
There was no doubting the goal that put Barcelona in front; Sandro curling in a delightful shot from the edge of the box, but Cahill rose tallest to once again restore parity.
Falcao, Moses and Ramires all scored from the Blues’ first three penalties, and when only Iniesta and Sandro could reply, it was left for Remy to give Chelsea the two points and bragging rights.
