Chelsea took on Napoli on Wednesday night in their final game of the Champions League league phase.

Prior to the match, Opta made Chelsea favourites to win the match at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, and the Blues managed to grab the victory in the end.

Napoli gave Chelsea a bit of a scare after going 2-1 up, but a Joao Pedro brace secured all three points for the visitors.

Chelsea player ratings vs Napoli

Robert Sanchez – 6/10

Made some good saves in both halves and was dominant in the air. Could not do much about either goal.

Malo Gusto – 4/10

Positioning was questionable at times. With Reece James fit, the England international could have easily started over him instead of playing at centre-back.

Reece James – 5/10

Played at centre-back for the first time in a while. Was much calmer than his centre-back partner and was not shoved around as easily but probably should have started at right-back or in midfield.

Wesley Fofana – 2/10

Got absolutely destroyed for Napoli’s equaliser and could not contain Rasmus Hojlund on the night. Disappointing performance.

Marc Cucurella – 5/10

Defended better than some of his teammates. However, Marc Cucurella is not making the same kind of impact he made under Enzo Maresca.

Moises Caicedo – 4/10

A sloppy bit of play presented Napoli with a chance early in the game and could not win the ball back before Antonio Vergara’s goal. Gave away fouls as he tends to do.

Andrey Santos – 3/10

Could not get into the game, while it was his clearance that eventually led to Napoli equalising.

Estevao Willian – 5/10

Napoli defenders backed off when he had the ball. Already being shown respect by opposition despite only being 18 years of age but could not get near Napoli’s goal.

Enzo Fernandez – 6/10

Made his presence known in midfield before putting Chelsea in front from the penalty spot. Faded away as the first half went on, though. Picked up again in the second.

Pedro Neto – 4/10

Pedro Neto continues to be very ineffective on the left, but he was able to put in a good cross just before the end of the first half.

Joao Pedro – 8/10

Some nice touches in the first 45 minutes of the game but wasted a glorious chance after Neto’s excellent cross. Redeemed himself with two goals in the second half. Caused problems when dropping deep.

Substitutes:

Cole Palmer – 6/10

Not at his best yet but his pass for Pedro’s second goal was perfectly weighted.

Trevoh Chalobah – 6/10

Should have started the game. Made an excellent block just before the 70th minute, won his aerial duels and was calm on the ball.

Benoit Badiashile, Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho – N/A
