Chelsea player ratings vs PSG as perfect Cole Palmer joins teammate with 10/10 in Club World Cup final

Chelsea were crowned Club World Cup winners in emphatic fashion after dominating Champions League holders PSG 3-0 in the final.

Cole Palmer was at his brilliant best for the Blues, as he struck twice in the first half to put his side in a commanding position early on.

He later set up Joao Pedro for a sensational third goal before half-time, before attention turned to the defensive players on the pitch for Chelsea.

In truth, Enzo Maresca’s side hardly put a foot wrong throughout the entire game, with Robert Sanchez making a number of important saves throughout the contest.

Palmer was of course the star man, but plenty of players score highly in The Chelsea Chronicle’s player ratings from the Club World Cup final triumph.

Chelsea player ratings vs PSG in Club World Cup final

Robert Sanchez: 10/10

What an end to the season this guy has had.

Made a few really good saves to deny Vitinha, Joao Neves and Ousmane Dembele, while Robert Sanchez’s excellent distribution sent Chelsea on their way on a number of occasions. Brilliant performance from the number one.

Malo Gusto: 9/10

Malo Gusto would not have been in everyone’s starting line-up before the game got underway, however he more than proved his worth with an excellent performance.

Both in attack and defence, the Frenchman was superb up against the Champions League winners, proving a lot of doubters wrong in the process.

Trevoh Chalobah: 8/10

Very strong in every challenge he went into, Trevoh Chalobah didn’t give the PSG attack a moment to settle on the ball, limiting them to few efforts as they ran rampant up the other end.

Levi Colwill: 7/10

Played a glorious pass in behind for Palmer’s second goal, and was composed on the ball in the face of the press from the Parisians.

Levi Colwill has only improved as the season has gone on under Maresca, and he showed he is more than up for the challenge of big games with his performance.

Marc Cucurella: 7/10

Marc Cucurella made a crucial last-man interception to deny what looked a certain PSG goal when the scores were level, but he remained at his tenacious best throughout the evening.

If anyone has earned their three-week rest before returning to pre-season, it is the Blues’ left-back.

Reece James: 7/10

Returning in central midfield, club captain Reece James helped form what proved an extremely solid midfield pivot behind the hard-working attacking stars. It looks as if that is going to be his regular role going forwards under the current manager.

Moises Caicedo: 7/10

After picking up a very harsh yellow card in the first half, Moises Caicedo remained disciplined in the middle of the park in what was another very impressive display.

Enzo Fernandez: 7/10

Frequently leading the press, Enzo Fernandez’s brilliant individual campaign was crowned with a second trophy in a couple of months.

The World Cup winner’s improvements under Maresca are one of the biggest positives of the manager’s reign so far.

Cole Palmer: 10/10

Simply brilliant.

Not that there were any left doubting the wonderful ability of Cole Palmer, however his two goals and assist in the first half saw him standout as the best player on the pitch, against who many believe are the best club in world football.

Pedro Neto: 8/10

While the attacking rewards were not there for Pedro Neto in the final, his main contribution came going the other way.

Tasked with keeping a lid on the extremely dangerous Achraf Hakimi, the Portugal international’s immense workrate helped Cucurella out at the back, and helped keep their opponents relatively quiet.

Joao Pedro: 8/10

Joao Pedro’s perfect start to life at Chelsea continued as he picked up a trophy just two starts into his career at his new club.

The Brazilian showed composure to dink the ball over Gianluigi Donnarumma to give the Blues a three-goal lead.

Andrey Santos: 7/10

Replaced Fernandez who looked as if the marathon season had finally caught up with him, but a tidy cameo from Andrey Santos proved that he will certainly have a part to play in the upcoming campaign for Chelsea.

Liam Delap: 7/10

Liam Delap almost scored a beauty just moments after coming on to replace Pedro in the second half, and in truth was the perfect man to be brought on with the Blues looking to maintain their lead.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall: 6/10

Ever the reliable substitute for Maresca this season, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall brought much-needed legs into the middle of the park for Chelsea in the final 15 minutes.

Christopher Nkunku: 6/10

Christopher Nkunku came on late for what could be a goodbye outing for Chelsea. The Frenchman is strongly linked with a move away this summer.
