Daniel Farke was impressed with Chelsea after watching them defeat his Leeds United side in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Chelsea won 1-0 after Enzo Fernandez scored with a header in the 23rd minute of the match at Wembley.

Leeds fought back in the second half, but Chelsea managed to keep them out after some magnificent saves from Robert Sanchez.

Gusto and Sanchez excellent!

Daniel Farke impressed with Chelsea’s defending

After the game, Farke commented on Sanchez’s performance and Chelsea’s defending. He described their “behaviour” in front of their own goal as “top”.

Speaking to the BBC following the full-time whistle, the Leeds boss said: “The goalkeeper was able to get two great saves. And the defensive flow of Chelsea was there, it was top defensive behaviour. They always had an answer to all our questions that we asked.”

Chelsea’s victory over Leeds has earned them another trip to Wembley, where they will play Manchester City in the FA Cup final next month.

The Blues’ hero on Sunday, Fernandez, could be set to play against his future team, with City thought to be interested in the midfielder.

It was first reported in March that City are keen on Fernandez, who is unsettled at Stamford Bridge at the moment.

The Argentine recently gave a couple of interviews where he did not rule out a move to Real Madrid and was suspended for two games by Chelsea as a result.

Chelsea’s defensive numbers from Leeds win

That was Chelsea’s best defensive performance in months. They certainly deserve some credit for how they kept Leeds out, a side who have become quite dangerous on the counter-attack under Farke.

In total, the Chelsea team made 21 tackles, six interceptions and 24 clearances, as per Sofascore. Sanchez also made three saves, including one big stop.

The Blues now need to defend like that for the rest of the season in the Premier League if they want to qualify for Europe.

Champions League is pretty much gone, but Europa League is still possible if they cut out the costly errors like at Wembley. There were not any of those for once, and that is how it has to be going forward.
