Former Premier League star says Chelsea man ‘got away with murder’ in win vs Fulham

Despite Chelsea walking away from the West London derby with all three points on Saturday, pundit Nedum Onuoha was not completely convinced by the whole squad.

Goals from Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez either side of half-time were enough for the Blues to return to the top of the Premier League and pick up their first win at Stamford Bridge of the campaign.

Enzo Maresca praised Fernandez for improving, which was the story of Chelsea’s performance on the day as they eventually got a hold of the game.

They could have found themselves behind in the first half when teenager Josh King found the net in the first half, only for his goal to eventually be disallowed by VAR.

Nedum Onouha says Trevoh Chalobah ‘got away with murder’ during Chelsea vs Fulham

Mark Clattenburg didn’t agree with the referee’s decision, who alleged that there had been a foul in the build-up to the goal on Trevoh Chalobah.

The English defender was left in a heap on the floor after the challenge, and former Premier League star Onouha believes that reaction could have been why the decision was eventually given to disallow the goal.

He said: “For me personally, I think that goal should always have stood. I think Chalobah has got away with murder there, and I think the fact he laid on the floor probably sold it to make them go and have a look.”

Chalobah’s excellent performance vs Fulham

While his antics when it came to Fulham’s disallowed goal could come into question, there can be very few doubts over Chalobah’s performance across the 90 minutes.

With Levi Colwill out injured for the majority of the campaign, Maresca has needed his other options to step up to fill the void of the England international.

With another new centre-back not likely to be coming to Stamford Bridge, Chalobah is in for a big season at his boyhood club, and has started tremendously.
