Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling raved about teammate Nicolas Jackson after his second-half performance in today’s win against Burnley.

The Blues came from behind on Saturday afternoon to record a 4-1 away victory at Turf Moor.

It’s now back-to-back wins in the Premier League for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with the Burnley success backing up the win over Fulham earlier in the week.

There’s now a two-week break for the international fixtures, where everyone can reflect on 11 points from the opening eight league matches. The start to the season certainly looks a lot better than it did a week ago!

Raheem Sterling, who scored one goal and was instrumental against Burnley, believes his teammate was impressive as well.

Nicolas Jackson, who’s just 22, came on as a half-time substitute today and made a big impression.

The striker scored the fourth Blues goal with fantastic accuracy, his third of the season. He showed great composure in the penalty box to make space and fire in with his left foot.

His performance earned praise from a fellow Chelsea attacker:

“Nicolas Jackson is energetic, he gets about, helps the team defensively and he makes good runs. Grateful that he took his chance,” Sterling told BBC’s Match of the Day.

It looks like Chelsea will have a serious competition from within the squad for the No 9 position.

Armando Broja, who started today and played 45 minutes, is coming back from a long-term injury layout. He’s certainly got a lot to bring to this side.

Meanwhile, Jackson now has the kind of competition to keep him on the toes.

In theory, it should bring the best out of the pair of them.
