Filip Jorgensen made his first start for Chelsea earlier in their 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid.

Chelsea signed Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal last week to give themselves another goalkeeper option for the 2024/25 season.

The 22-year-old made his unofficial debut for the club in their 3-0 win against Club America, and Chelsea fans were quite satisfied with Jorgensen‘s performance.

Supporters have taken to social media again to discuss his latest outing versus the European champions.

Chelsea fans react to Filip Jorgensen’s role in Real Madrid’s second goal

Real Madrid went 2-0 up against Chelsea in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with Brahim Diaz grabbing his side’s second goal.

Looking on X, it is fair to say that a lot of Chelsea supporters felt that Jorgensen did not cover himself in glory for that goal.

One Chelsea fan said: “Jorgensen looked like he was going to get it…. Then boom 2-0. That’s not it man.”

Another Chelsea supporter said: “Sorry but that’s poor from Jorgensen. Needs to fully commit to getting the ball, not backing out and making himself look small. You come out and make yourself look big, intimidate the attacker to put them off.”

Another fan posted: “Jorgensen has to come and smother that — stops mid run.”

One user wrote: “This Jorgensen geezer was signed to be a sweeper keeper but my nan would’ve got off her line quicker than he did for that second goal.”

And one other supporter said: “I’m tired of watching Chelsea play horribly day in, day out. Why didn’t Jorgensen rush for the ball?”

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has been a bit critical of Jorgensen. The ESPN pundit cannot see him making that much of a difference to Enzo Maresca‘s team.

Inter Milan friendly could indicate which goalkeeper will start against Manchester City

Chelsea have one more friendly to play before they kick-off their Premier League season against Manchester City on August 18.

The Blues will take on Serie A champions Inter Milan, and you suspect that the goalkeeper who starts that match will also get the nod for the fixture versus City at Stamford Bridge.

Jorgensen has respect for Robert Sanchez, but the Denmark U21 international will be hoping to claim the No.1 position ahead of him.

If he is to do that and keep it, though, then Jorgensen will obviously have to be much quicker off his line than he was for Diaz’s goal earlier. He definitely could have done better in that situation, but it is early days and Chelsea supporters will now be hoping that their new shot-stopper can improve.
