Moises Caicedo has interesting response when told he is now one of Chelsea’s leaders in the squad

Not for the first time this season, Chelsea were bailed out of a difficult situation by the brilliance of Moises Caicedo at the heart of their side.

Caicedo was on hand to head home and put an end to the club’s frustration against Pafos in the Champions League, helping them to a 1-0 win.

Joe Cole described Caicedo as Chelsea’s most important player at the minute, ahead of the likes of Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez.

It is becoming hard to argue against the Ecuador international taking this title, especially following the past 18 months where his performance levels have drastically improved.

At 24 years of age, the midfielder is actually one of the more experienced players in the first team squad. He now has five years of Premier League experience under his belt.

Caicedo was asked by TNT Sports what it is like to be seen as one of the leaders in the squad, alongside Reece James and Fernandez.

However, he stated that he doesn’t offer too much in the dressing room, and would rather let his incredible footballing abilities do the talking.

He said: “A lot of people tell me I’m a leader. I don’t talk too much in the dressing room, but I like to show on the pitch.”

Caicedo has captained Chelsea on occasion when the likes of James have not been available.

Caicedo’s role has changed since Liam Rosenior became manager of the club, with the midfielder being asked to get on the ball more often.

It is clear how important the Ecuadorian is going to be under his tenure, with him starting every game he has been available for across three competitions.

He has featured alongside plenty of different midfield partners, however has been the ever-present that his performance levels have earned.

The relationship is set to continue, and Rosenior will have already found one of the players he can rely on to regularly make a positive impact on this Chelsea side.
