‘The experience, the guile’: Alan Smith says ‘fantastic’ Chelsea player gave Bournemouth man a torrid time

Sky Sports commentator Alan Smith thinks Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling absolutely terrorised Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez earlier today.

Raheem Sterling started on the right side of the Blues’ attack in their clash against the Cherries at the Vitality Stadium and was a constant threat for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Speaking about his duel with Kerkez while commentating live on Sky Sports, Smith said: “He’s not finding it easy the youngster up against the experience, the guile of Raheem Sterling.”

Sterling came close to scoring during the game, with his free-kick just after the restart rattling the cross bar.

Going into the match, the wide man had scored two goals in four Premier League outings, but that was not enough to earn him an England call-up for the recent round of international fixtures.

Chelsea’s most dangerous player

Right now, Sterling easily looks like Chelsea’s most threatening forward. Pochettino will be keen for him to keep playing like this.

Still, the sole threat of the 28-year-old, who has been described as a “fantastic player” by his former manager Frank Lampard, is not going to be enough for the Blues to finish in the top four this season.

The likes of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have already set the standard, which is very high at the moment.

It means the likes of Sterling, Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku are all going to have to be at their best if the Blues are to have any chance of reaching their goal, with the last of that trio still yet to feature for his new side because of injury.

Until he’s back, Sterling is going to have to continue spearheading the team’s attack.
