Well, despite how entertaining the evening clash under the lights was, the result is what really matters — a draw isn’t good enough. Estevao Willian was brilliant against Bournemouth, as well as the two goalscorers, but it was an underwhelming team performance.
After the game, the feeling around the stadium was unanimous, and driven home by a frosty reaction from the crowd.

Chelsea were the better side in the second half, but were lucky not to lose in injury time, when Enes Unal should have done better with his effort from right in front of the goal.
A draw seems a fair result, but not one that fans were happy with.
As Nizaar Kinsella reported on X: “FT: Chelsea 2-2 Bournemouth. Smattering of low-level boos. Chalobah is down after a clash of heads on full-time.
“Chelsea had the better of the second half but Enes Unal could have won it in added time. Fair result over the course of the match.”
Regardless of the ‘level’ of noise at Stamford Bridge, it’s clear that fans aren’t happy with the Blues’ recent form. It’s a sour note on which to end an objectively successful 2025, but a fair reaction given how the month has gone.

Maresca was in hot water at Chelsea earlier this month, and some decisions he has made do him no favours, but surely the finger should be pointed higher up.
The Chelsea board are happy with the squad, but they’re in the minority. Despite the amount of money spent, there are still holes in the squad and that overall issue of a lack of experience to get through games like the one we just watched.
