Chelsea laboured to a second 1-0 victory of their Europa League campaign against Vidi at Stamford Bridge. Here is how the players rated.
Goalkeeper:
Kepa: 7 – Looking increasingly comfortable. Made several decent interventions.

Defence:
Davide Zappacosta: 5 – Several good crosses but he is not exactly a long term option for the right back position.
Gary Cahill (C): 6 – His passing is improving even though he is still a fair way off dislodging Rudiger.
Andreas Christensen: 5 – His strength is bringing the ball into midfield but he is not able to do this much with a four at the back system.
Emerson: 7 – A possible man of the match? Always a threat going forward and provides a consistent overlapping option. Any mistakes he makes are due to getting caught out too high up the pitch.

Midfielders:
Cesc Fabregas: 6 – Without the ball he was exposed in the deep lying position. I rated him at 6 because his balls in behind were excellent.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek: 7 – He had a perfectly good game. Several moments of sheer class as he dribbled through Vidi’s back line. Promising performance.
Mateo Kovacic: 6 – Faded in the second half which is becoming a concerning pattern. Neat and tidy when he is full of energy.
Forwards:
Pedro: 6 – Was busy and tried to move the ball quickly. Needs to get back up to full speed after an injury layoff.

Willian: 5 – Both wingers were playing for themselves rather than for the system. Willian especially was slow to move the ball.
Alvaro Morata: 6 – Missed one absolute sitter but, to his credit, he did eventually score. His touch and ability to bring others into play still needs to improve.
