£120k-a-week Chelsea player makes PL team of the week, despite failing to beat Burnley
Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has once again made SofaScore’s Premier League team of the week despite Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Burnley.
It is safe to say that Hudson-Odoi, who turned 21 on Sunday, has made the most out of the chances he had in the last couple of weeks.
The absences of Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, and Christian Pulisic certainly helped his case, but as Thomas Tuchel previously pointed out, for Hudson-Odoi, playing in his natural position makes a big difference.
The England international created joint-most chances (five) in the draw with Burnley, including three big chances.
He also only lost the ball seven times in the 85 minutes he played, fewer than any other outfield Chelsea player bar Thiago Silva.
Unsurprisingly, he made SofaScore’s Premier League team of the week in terms of rating. The list also features fellow Chelsea academy graduate Conor Gallagher, who is currently on loan at Crystal Palace.
The one aspect that Hudson-Odoi, who is reportedly on a £120,000-a-week salary (Spotrac), could improve is his final output. So far this term, he has only had one goal and two assists in all competitions.
To be fair, he is not entirely at fault when his teammates could not finish at least of the three clear-cut chances he created last weekend, for example.
However, if he is to cement his spot as a regular starter, he also needs to score more regularly.
