Journalist Nathan Gissing has claimed that there are currently no updates regarding the return to fitness of Moises Caicedo at Chelsea.

He took to Twitter to state that the 21-year-old did not train with the squad yesterday, making him a doubt for the upcoming Premier League match.

Caicedo was the latest name to be added to the growing list of those requiring treatment at Stamford Bridge following his travels over the international break.

Despite playing and starring for Ecuador in both games, he has returned with a knock that left him unable to face Bournemouth at the weekend.

The Blues lumbered to a 0-0 draw away from home, and while he £150k-a-week player was likely not going to be the first player to step up and score, he would have perhaps facilitated another starter who could have.

The club’s record signing being injured is never good news, and supporters will have been hoping that he returned to training quickly in order to finally get his Chelsea career kickstarted.

However, when asked on Twitter, Gissing has claimed that there is no update on him returning to full fitness, with him not taking part in training.

He said: “No updates. He didn’t train today.”

Chelsea’s injury record is becoming somewhat of a joke amongst supporters at this stage, with the sheer magnitude of first team players missing becoming a real concern.

Caicedo has joined the likes of Reece James, Benoit Badiashile and Romeo Lavia as starting players who are being forced to watch from the sides, with the Blues faltering in the Premier League.

They have just five points from as many games, and will be looking to get their second win of the season against Aston Villa on Sunday.
