Tomorrow sees Chelsea get their FA Cup campaign underway as they take on Morecambe in the third round at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Maresca will welcome the chance to rotate his side after a busy festive period in the Premier League where the wheels have threatened to come off.

The likes of Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Nicolas Jackson are all unlikely to feature as they take on the side who currently sit second bottom of League 2.

Instead, it can be expected that a number of youngsters will get the chance to impress the manager in West London tomorrow afternoon, with the players seen in training this week a clue into who might feature.

Aaron Anselmino seen in Chelsea training for very first time

The most notable piece of business Chelsea have completed in January so far this month is recalling Aaron Anselmino early from his loan spell back at Boca Juniors.

It was thought he would join at the end of the season following his £15m signing, but now the defender has been seen in first team training, in pictures shown on Chelsea’s official website.

Anselmino is eligible to feature for the Blues tomorrow, however Maresca has already ruled out the potential of him making his debut in the game.

The defensive partnership will likely consist of Tosin Adarabioyo and Axel Disasi, who were both recently on the bench in favour of Josh Acheampong.

What has Enzo Maresca said about Aaron Anselmino?

Maresca has reportedly told the club that he wants to see Anselmino train before a decision is made over whether he is loaned out for the rest of this season.

Chelsea are notably looking at signing a new defender in this transfer window, after injuries suffered by Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile.

In a press conference, the manager confirmed they were doing everything they could to help him adapt to his new surroundings.

He said: “He’s another talent, another good player, now the most important thing is that he arrives here and he adapts himself, he starts to find a house, settling in the right way.

“Then we need to give him time, because when you come from the other part of the world, you need to adapt, you need to see a new world, a new culture, but for sure we are going to try to help him to adapt as soon as possible.

“No, at the moment the plan is to keep him here, to allow him to work with us and then to take a decision.

“No, if he’s here it’s because we think he’s a good player and he can help us. But for sure he’s very young and he’s coming from Argentina, completely different culture, different football, different level. So he needs time for that.”
