Chelsea may have some convincing to do if they want to bring Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface to Stamford Bridge this month.

Chelsea could make a move for Victor Boniface if the club fail to land Brentford’s Ivan Toney, according to the Daily Mirror.

However, speaking on The Obi One Podcast, the 23-year-old has admitted that he has never really liked the Premier League.

Boniface has made a name for himself this season after really impressing in the Bundesliga. In 16 outings, the forward has come up with 17 goal contributions.

Leverkusen signed Boniface from Union Saint-Gilloise for £17m last summer (Goal).

Victor Boniface not a fan of the Premier League

While Boniface says he would not necessarily turn down a move to the Premier League, the Nigerian has admitted that he has always preferred the Bundesliga and La Liga over English football’s top flight.

Speaking on John Obi Mikel‘s podcast, the Leverkusen star said: “To be honest with you, I never liked the Premier League. I just think it is not my style. I love to play in Spain or Germany. I’m not saying if it came at the right time for me to come to England I would say no.

“But what I am trying to say is that when I was young I loved the Spanish and German league so much because of the way they play. But I’m not saying I would refuse to come to England. But I’m saying if I had to pick one I would play in Spain.”

Victor Boniface could still move to the Premier League

Boniface may not be the biggest fan of the Premier League, but he could still move to England one day, saying as much.

Interest from a huge club like Chelsea, for example, would be hard to turn down, especially if they are not rivalled by Real Madrid or Barcelona, who are probably Boniface’s dream clubs based on his recent comments.

And if he does end up at Stamford Bridge, one man who would be delighted is Mikel. The Chelsea legend is backing his compatriot to become a complete striker.
