Chelsea loanee Levi Colwill has explained he’s confident he can emulate the success of friend and Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala.

Colwill is a highly rated 18-year-old defender from the Chelsea academy that has been sent out on a season-long loan this season.

The centre-back has joined Championship club Huddersfield Town for his first taste of senior football and has quickly made himself at home by playing every league minute of the new campaign.

He’s been discussing in an interview the success of childhood friend Musiala, who’s now a first-team regular for German heavyweights Bayern.

Musiala, 18, is an exciting winger that already has three goals and two assists in five Bayern appearances this campaign. Also, he has six senior international caps for Germany.

“To see what he has done now is inspiring and it shows me what is possible. If I keep working hard, I know I can achieve what he’s done,” Colwill told Goal.

Is Levi Colwill another big talent made in Cobham?

Colwill’s comments about replicating his friend highlights his confidence, so he’s definitely someone Chelsea fans need to keep an eye on.

It’s been an excellent start for the English teenager during his loan at Huddersfield and he’ll be hoping to follow in the footsteps of some recent talents to come out of the Blues academy.

He’s taken to first-team football effortlessly at Huddersfield. A full season of Championship action is going to be massive for his development.

The likes of Mason Mount and Reece James had great loan spells in the second tier before senior promotions, which is why this year it’s all about Colwill knuckling down to focus on his development.

In the long-term it looks like Chelsea may need to find another centre-half.
