22-year-old Chelsea player is now starting to get frustrated over lack of game time

One Chelsea attacker looks like he is starting to get a bit annoyed over his lack of opportunities this season.

Right now, Mauricio Pochettino has an array of options for his forward line.

However, the Argentine has largely used an attack of Cole Palmer, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson this season.

Central midfielder Conor Gallagher has also been used in a more attacking role, often playing just behind Jackson.

Pochettino choosing to stick with the above names has seen Noni Madueke start just four games in the Premier League this term. Matt Law of The Telegraph says he would be surprised if Chelsea stood in the winger’s way this summer if he pushes for a move.

Noni Madueke wants to play more at Chelsea

Being mostly used from off the bench, unsurprisingly, Madueke is eager for more game time at Stamford Bridge.

On the 22-year-old, journalist Simon Phillips recently wrote on his Substack Si Phillips Talks Chelsea: “I’ve heard he is getting itchy feet in terms of wanting to play more, which is natural.”

Madueke made a real case to start the Blues’ next game after his goal against Leicester City just before the international break.

He has also impressed while on duty with the England U21s, grabbing a brace in their 7-0 triumph over Luxembourg.

Why has Noni Madueke been overlooked by Mauricio Pochettino this season?

One reason is simply because of the form of Cole Palmer, who has been excellent for Chelsea since joining them from Manchester City last summer.

The 21-year-old has been playing out on the right, which is Madueke’s best position, and has not disappointed there.

Palmer is Chelsea’s top scorer in the Premier League this term, netting 11 times in 23 outings.

Pochettino could always move the England international into the No.10 position and start Madueke on the right flank, but the Argentine seems set on having Gallagher there.

The midfielder may not be at Chelsea for much longer, though, with journalist Dean Jones recently claiming that some at the club feel that they can sell him for £50m this summer.
