Barcelona winger Raphinha’s nightmare start to European football is set to continue as Barcelona sit on the brink of elimination from the Champions League.

This comes just months after he rejected a move to Chelsea, who currently sit top of their European group.

The Catalan side were lucky to even rescue a point last night, with fellow new signing Robert Lewandowski’s second goal of the night rescuing a point in a 3-3 draw at home to Inter Milan.

The result leaves them on just 4 points from as many games, three points behind Inter Milan who still have a game against pointless Viktoria Plzen to come.

It has left Xavi’s side needing to beat runaway leaders Bayern Munich if they are to even stand a chance at not suffering an embarrassing drop into the Europa League for the second consecutive season.

Raphinha set for UCL exit

It was another night to forget for the former Leeds man, who has notably struggled already this season in the Champions League.

After being substituted last night, Raphinha was spotted on camera launching his shirt into the ground in frustration.

Unfortunately, there won’t be much sympathy on offer from Chelsea fans. For a few days this summer, they were of the belief that the 25-year-old was set to be a Blue this season.

However, he held off on the club despite Leeds and Chelsea reaching an agreement over the fee, with the player far preferring a move to Barcelona.

The Spanish side continued to sell themselves in order to afford the deal, in a similar way to how they funded the signing of Jules Kounde from under Chelsea’s noses too.

While Barcelona struggle, the Blues are on the brink of heading through to the last 16 after recovering to a poor start to the campaign.
