The father of one Chelsea player has now actively encouraged his son to make the lucrative move to play his football in Saudi Arabia.

Roger Lukaku, father of current loanee Romelu, has now told DHNet that his son should have made the move over the summer, with him needing to think about his personal situation at some point.

There was a genuine chance that Lukaku ended up playing in Saudi Arabia this season after finding a permanent suitor for him was not revealing itself.

He would have joined the likes of N’golo Kante and Kalidou Koulibaly in making the move to the up-and-coming league, with the financial incentive not lost on anyone.

However, he decided to make the move to Roma, with him finding his goalscoring boots for both club and country this season.

His club have been very pleased by him, with reports flying that a permanent deal could be on the cards next season.

One person who this may not please is the 30-year-old’s father, who has pleaded for his son to think about the money that he could earn by moving to Saudi Arabia.

He said: “Romelu made the right choice by going to AS Roma, but I would have chosen Saudi Arabia. He should have gone to Al-Hilal. How much would he have earned there, €45million per year? At a certain point he has to think about himself.”

Chelsea supporters will remain hopeful that a permanent end to their relationship is reached as soon as possible, with them looking to cut all ties with the once-record signing.

They could be about to spend big on another striker too. They have been linked with a move for both Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen, with the former likely to be available in January if they want him.
