Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell will undergo a scan on Thursday to assess the severity a hamstring injury.

That is according to journalist Jacob Steinberg.

Ben Chilwell, 26, played and impressed in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Brighton last night in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

However, the £50million left-back (Sky Sports) limped off late on to concern the home crowd at Stamford Bridge.

Jacob Steinberg wrote on X: “Ben Chilwell will have a scan on his hamstring injury today. Chelsea defender limped off at the end of last night’s win over Brighton.”

Hopefully, the England international gets some good news from the scan.

The defender has been very unfortunate in recent years when it comes to injury setbacks, so another one now would be crushing news for him on a personal level. He’s also an important part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side, too.

With Reece James sidelined right now, Chilwell is a senior figure as the club’s vice-captain and losing him would be quite a significant blow.

Remarkably, he’s one of the oldest in this squad at the age of 26.

There’s plenty of alternatives in the squad who can play in his position, but the team needs its senior figures to try lift the Premier League form.

Let’s hope the Blues take the confidence of the cup win against Brighton into next Monday’s Premier League fixture away to Fulham.
