Andreas Christensen was cool and composed for Chelsea during their 2-0 Champions League victory over Porto last night.
Christensen returned to the team having started on the Blues bench during their dire 5-2 defeat against West Bromwich Albion last weekend.
It looked like the Dane had never been away as he seamlessly slotted back into Chelsea’s defence.
According to WhoScored.com, the 24-year-old made 83 passes against Porto, more than any player on the field that evening.
He did so with passing accuracy of 94%, another game high.
Add to that five clearances – second only to Reece James – and Christensen’s performance was complete.
Chelsea fans have got used to seeing these all comprehensive displays from their central-defender since Thomas Tuchel reinstated him into the side.
Many feared that the Blues would struggle following Thiago Silva’s injury and Christensen’s subsequent inclusion.
Any of those doubts have now been extinguished.
Aside from that Baggies blip, Tuchel’s team have been an almost impenetrable force that does not concede goals.
A lot of this can be owed to the form of Christensen, who is beginning to look like the article Chelsea have been trying to mould for some time.
With all the talk of signing a new centre-back, the Blues might have a readymade option already on their doorstep.
