Michael Owen has claimed he has been very impressed by Nicolas Jackson since he joined Chelsea earlier this summer.

He claimed during the Premier League’s coverage of the ‘Summer Series’ that he looks like he could be a great acquisition for the Blues ahead of this season.

The signing of Jackson certainly did not bring the fanfare that other top flight acquisitions have done, however he has certainly been one of the better players so far during the tour of America.

In just over 100 minutes of gametime, the Senegal international has two goals and three assists, and started yesterday in the striker position.

This was in front of fellow new addition Christopher Nkunku, who started in the number 10 role. This grasped the attention of Mauricio Pochettino, although not for the right reasons.

He was heard shouting at the France international to play a bit deeper, allowing Jackson more space to thrive up front.

Owen impressed by Jackson

Owen was left impressed again by the former Villarreal man, claiming that he has been a great find from the recruitment staff at the club.

He said: “Nicolas Jackson especially looks like a real find for Chelsea.”

Reports recently have still not disappeared over the club looking to add another attacker to their ranks. However, the striker market does not look the most appealing to jump into right now.

It has been claimed that a versatile attacking midfield option could in fact be preferred, with them being linked to a number of targets.

One of those is Muhammed Kudus, with personal terms reportedly almost agreed between the two parties.

However, they have also looked closer to home with the potential addition of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.
