Arsenal legend Ian Wright has described Callum Hudson-Odoi’s transfer from Chelsea to Nottingham Forest as an “absolute bargain”.

According to BBC Sport, Forest signed Callum Hudson-Odoi on deadline day for less than £5m and Wright thinks it was a stunning piece of business.

Speaking on his podcast Wrighty’s House, the former Arsenal striker said: “Absolute bargain, absolute bargain.”

Wright later went on to add: “I’m going to give him some flowers because I was pleased for the goal, I’m pleased with what that will do for him, his confidence, and you just hope that now he can continue to play, get some consistency in his game and then we can see that guy we were expecting to see at Chelsea.”

It has not taken long for Hudson-Odoi to settle at the City Ground, with the winger scoring on his Forest debut on Monday.

He levelled things up for Steve Cooper’s side with an excellent curling effort, helping them to draw 1-1 with Burnley and secure a point.

Absolute bargain

To get Hudson-Odoi for less than £5m really was top work by Forest. Chelsea have been robbed here.

The 22-year-old has not done anything spectacular in the last couple of seasons; however, he is still a player who has a lot to offer.

Hudson-Odoi, who has been described as an “incredible talent” by former team-mate Conor Gallagher, has Premier League experience, can play on both flanks and is a dangerous wide man who can really get at defenders.

Last term, he completed 1.5 dribbles per game in the Champions League, which was the joint-highest average in Bayer Leverkusen’s squad (WhoScored).

At 22 as well, he still has plenty of time to develop into an even better footballer.

When you consider all of that, Chelsea really should have got more money for Hudson-Odoi, especially in this market. It is early days, but his move to Forest is already looking like one of the deals of the summer.
