Dean Saunders believes that Kai Havertz is going to be a success at Arsenal following his move to the Emirates Stadium from Chelsea.
Kai Havertz, who spent three years at Stamford Bridge, completed his £65million transfer (Sky Sports) across London this summer.
The German attacker scored a famous goal to win Chelsea a Champions League trophy, but there’s no doubting he did divide opinion within the fanbase.
It feels like the left-footed playmaker never really hit his best form on a consistent basis for the Blues. Will things be about to change under Mikel Arteta’s management at Arsenal, though?

TalkSPORT pundit Saunders suggests that Havertz can be effective for Arsenal operating as an advanced midfielder, which would be quite the change from his recent years playing as a false-nine.
In addition, he’s made the quite wild comparison between Havertz and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, who’s one of the best goalscoring midfielders the game has ever seen.
Mason Mount, who Chelsea have sold to Manchester United this summer, is a player who’s been compared to Frank Lampard throughout his entire career. This is a new take regarding Havertz, though.
“For me, Havertz is a bit like Lampard, arriving in the box late. He can’t play with his back to goal. He’s not as good as Frank Lampard, and there’s not many that were, but in that position where [Granit] Xhaka played, I think he’ll do well,” Saunders told talkSPORT.

Of course, we’re ready to be proven wrong on this. But we can’t picture Havertz scoring 20-plus goals a season like a peak Lampard.
We wouldn’t be surprised to see Arteta unlock something extra with Havertz, who’s a big talent that has never really ignited during a few years in the Premier League.
However, there’s certainly not that killer instinct in front of goal, whether that’s inside the box or arriving around the edge of it.
