Premier League legend Alan Shearer has shown a bit of love to two Chelsea players following their win against Aston Villa over the weekend.

Chelsea beat Aston Villa 3-0 thanks to goals from Nicolas Jackson, Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer.

Palmer also managed to register an assist, yet the attacking midfielder has missed out on Alan Shearer‘s Premier League Team of the Week.

Palmer recently discussed his relationship with Jackson and what they are doing off the pitch to make it an even stronger one.

Alan Shearer picks Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella

While Palmer did not make Shearer’s team, Fernandez and Marc Cucurella did.

Again, Fernandez was able to get his name on the scoresheet, while it was Cucurella’s deflected cross that led to Jackson putting the Blues 1-0 up.

Cucurella has actually stunned Troy Deeney with his displays this season and will have the chance to impress again on Wednesday.

Chelsea are back in Premier League action, taking on Southampton at St Mary’s.

Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella’s stats against Aston Villa

In the end, Fernandez and Cucurella both deserved to be included in Shearer’s best Premier League XI for the weekend.

Fernandez was heavily involved in his team’s attacks against Villa and scored a very nice goal, while Cucurella defended extremely well.

The left-back helped Chelsea to keep a clean sheet, which was just their third in the top flight this season.

Looking at some of their numbers, both players had really good games and deserve to retain their spots on Wednesday if Maresca is not thinking about rotating.

Fernandez and Cucurella have both come in for heavy criticism since joining Chelsea. However, right now, they are playing very well.

The patience that the club have afforded the two is really starting to pay off, though being such big investments, especially Fernandez, Chelsea have probably had no choice but to give them time.
