Noni Madueke scored a hat-trick in Chelsea’s 6-2 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers, but that was not the only thing that impressed Alan Shearer.

Chelsea managed to pick up their first victory of the Premier League season over the weekend, with Noni Madueke key to that.

Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson also played their parts, with the two attackers scoring for the Blues, too.

Their teammate was the main man on the day, though, and Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea won’t sell Madueke before the transfer deadline on Friday.

Alan Shearer praises Noni Madueke’s overall performance against Wolves

Everyone is understandably talking about Madueke’s hat-trick, which was his most important contribution to Chelsea’s win at Molineux.

However, Shearer has also highlighted his defensive contribution to the team. Explaining why he named the winger in his Premier League Team of the Week, the Newcastle United legend said: “Scored a 14-minute hat-trick at one end, but also took his defensive duties seriously at the other. His best performance for Chelsea.”

Enzo Maresca had one complaint about Madueke’s performance, a free-kick that the 22-year-old conceded, but other than that, he would have been delighted with his display.

Noni Madueke’s salary

Madueke is proving to be quite the bargain for Chelsea, with the England U21 international not costing his club too much money and not earning crazy wages either.

Chelsea signed Madueke from PSV Eindhoven for around £30m back in 2023, which is not a lot, especially compared to some of the other deals the Blues have done since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took control.

According to Spotrac, Madueke is also earning just £50,000-a-week, which is again not silly money.

Chelsea’s current owners have got things wrong in the transfer market. Signing Mykhailo Mudryk in a deal worth £89m in total looks like a huge mistake, for example.

The Ukrainian continues to struggle at Chelsea, being hooked off at half-time in their 6-2 victory over Wolves.

The acquisition of Madueke, however, is something that the club’s owners and recruitment team have got right.
