Ally McCoist thinks Chelsea may need to get rid of N’Golo Kante if he can’t maintain his fitness.
N’Golo Kante, whose £30million signing (BBC) has to be one of the biggest bargains in the past decade, is still adored by the fanbase at Stamford Bridge.
The 32-year-old Frenchman hasn’t played a first-team match since mid-August due to injury, but he’s still a popular name in the media right now. That is because his contract with the Blues is due to expire at the end of this season
However, journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported on Twitter that Kante is “on the verge” of signing a new contract with Chelsea.

TalkSPORT pundit McCoist has raised concerns about Kante’s overall fitness and durability.
He suggests that Chelsea should consider letting him go if there’s more worries about his injury record.
“Kante might surprise a lot of people. He’s 31 now (32 today). You need to look at his fitness. If he can’t maintain fitness, you get rid of him,” McCoist told talkSPORT.
“I can’t believe I’m saying it because I’m arguably his biggest fan. But I’m his biggest fan when he’s on the pitch. You need to turn up for your work. You’ve got to play and train. I’m hoping he’s not at that age now where he starts picking up niggling injuries and you don’t see an awful lot of him. He’s just a tremendous player.”

We would definitely like to see Kante extend his stay in West London, and the speculation definitely appears to be heading in that direction.
Of course, it’s alarming to see the central midfielder struggle with injuries during recent seasons. There is nobody quite like him when he’s on top of his game, though.
It’s worth the risk of keeping him just to see what a midfield trio of him, Enzo Fernandez and Mateo Kovacic looks like together.
