Carney Chukwuemeka has credited Mason Mount and Raheem Sterling for softening the process of moving to Chelsea.

As quoted by the 5th Stand, Chukwuemeka made sure to thank the English duo’s commitment to helping his summer switch from Aston Villa an easy one.

It must’ve been a surreal and rather scary moment when the 19-year-old first arrived at Cobham in August.

Villa allowed their academy graduate to test himself against Champions League winners, having overseen his development for over half a decade.

As leaps go, this was Olympic high jump level.

Chukwuemeka had only started twice in the Premier League before Todd Boehly spent £20m to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

He’s hardly featured at all since becoming a Blue, largely due to an injury that’s cut a large chunk out of his campaign.

Yet, the experience of training and working with Graham Potter’s senior squad must be worth the pain alone.

Especially when the teenager has got two first-teamers by his side, helping him through a dreamlike process.

Carney Chukwuemeka has help

“Since I joined, the group as a whole has been so welcoming. But two English lads, Raz (Sterling) and Mase (Mount), have helped me in particular: always giving me advice and taking me under their wing,” Chukwuemeka gratefully explained.

Mount is probably the best person to provide guidance about Chelsea.

After all, he joined the club at the age of six.

Meanwhile, Sterling might only be 28, but the experience in his locker is unrivalled.

He’s won four league titles, five League Cups, played at numerous major international tournaments, and scored well over 100 senior goals.

Keep the compatriots close by is our advice, Carney.
