Moises Caicedo’s agent Manuel Sierra says Liverpool actually started to speak to him about the Chelsea midfielder back in January.
In the end, Moises Caicedo went on to join Chelsea. But Liverpool did make a move to sign the Ecuadorian and his agent has told Futbol sin Cassette that he first started speaking to them at the beginning of the year before things went silent.
As per BBC Sport, Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion eventually agreed a £111m deal, but Caicedo wanted to sign for Chelsea.

The Reds have not really been impacted by their failure to land the 21-year-old, though, as they currently sit inside the top four.
Manuel Sierra held discussions with Liverpool
From January to May, Sierra and Liverpool held talks about Caicedo potentially moving to Anfield.
On his client, Sierra said: “Liverpool was always interested in Moi. We had meetings during those months from January to May. But after May, we never heard anything more.”
Chelsea needed to win transfer battle
During their tussle for Caicedo, both Chelsea and Liverpool really needed the player. The two clubs lost a lot of midfielders over the summer.
However, overall, Chelsea are a weaker side compared to their Premier League rivals and you only have to look at the table last season to know that.

Virgil van Dijk’s brilliant defending and Mohamed Salah’s deadliness in front of goal could have compensated for what Liverpool were missing in midfield at the time, perhaps not to the point where they still would have been able to reach their objectives for the season, but enough for them to win games.
Chelsea, on the other hand, do not have a forward as clinical as Salah, for example, to bail them out. Even with Caicedo right now the team are not in a great state, so could you imagine how things would be or would have developed without him? It probably would not be pretty.
