Cesar Azpilicueta has claimed in an interview on the club’s website that Eden Hazard produced the greatest moment he has ever seen in a Chelsea shirt.

The club captain recently celebrated 500 games as a Blue after joining the club in the summer of 2012.

The Spain international has won everything available to him in the game since moving to Stamford Bridge, including having the honour of winning the Champions League as skipper.

During that time, there have obviously been a number of brilliant moments to choose from as the best that has been produced by one of his teammates.

However, when asked he took his mind back to the League Cup victory over Liverpool, where Hazard stepped up in emphatic style.

He said: “I’ve been lucky to see many great individual actions but in my head is Eden’s goal at Liverpool because I was very close. I remember he passed me the ball, I passed it back and I could be in the perfect spot to follow it.

“His action was really good – the high speed, the quality and the finish. It depends on the position where you are, you can see it differently, but it was amazing.”

Hazard has not enjoyed the same fortunes since his transfer away from Chelsea in 2019, while the Blues have been unable to find a winger with his qualities since either.

As for Azpilicueta, his form has taken a notable dip this season after he signed a new contract to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge after a summer of rumours of a move to Spain.

The Blues have struggled since fellow right-back Reece James was sidelined through injury, and Azpilicueta has struggled as Graham Potter has looked to replace what the Englishman brings to his side.
