One of Chelsea’s stars of pre-season this summer has come from what many would describe as an unlikely source.
Marc Guiu joined the club earlier in the transfer window from Barcelona, and was thrown in to the starting side immediately for their friendlies in the United States.
He has started all but one game this summer, with the side looking better immediately after his introduction in the defeat at the weekend to Manchester City.

Enzo Maresca has stated he has been impressed by Guiu already, with him certainly doing enough in many people’s eyes to remain at the club in the first team for the upcoming season.
It looks as if the Italian actually played a big role in the youngster joining the club this summer. Guiu told the Mail Online that he was the one who sold the project to him before he joined.

He said: “[Enzo Maresca] told me there was an amazing sporting project full of young talent, that he wanted me to be a part of it and that he had a lot of faith in me and my skills and capabilities.”
Nicolas Jackson is in line to return to action this week, with the upcoming friendly at Real Madrid the game that has been penciled in as one where he will get his first minutes of pre-season.

It looks as if the Senegal international is in line to start the season up top off the back of his really positive first campaign in English football.
However, Guiu has already shown that he is more than ready to feature in the Premier League when required, and the build-up of fixtures that are likely to take place from their presence in Europe again will no doubt see the need for rotation.
Talk hasn’t completely gone away over the addition of another forward to their ranks, with Victor Osimhen cropping up again on their list of potential signings in the last few days.
