Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen has claimed he loves it when teammate Jorginho starts for them.
Jorginho, who earns £110,000-a-week (Spotrac), is one of the senior members of the Blues squad at Stamford Bridge, and he’s worn the captain’s armband on a few occasions this season.
The 29-year-old defensive midfielder has divided opinion since he joined back in 2018, but he’s been in superb form since Thomas Tuchel arrived as manager earlier in the calendar year.
He’s well renowned for being a deep-lying playmaker, where he’s one of the most composed in possession around and extremely effective with his range of passing.
Blues defender Christensen has given big praise to Jorginho for the overall impact he has on the team.
If they are playing possession-based football, there aren’t many other individuals you’d choose ahead of him to help dictate play.
“I think Jorginho is one of the best ball playing midfielders that you can have in your team. He has a lot of confidence when he is on the pitch. That only makes us more comfortable when playing with him. He’s got a massive part in the way we play.
“At the same time, when he brings that confidence, he is a leader as well. I hope you can see that from the outside as well. When he brings that calmness and confidence, he makes the team play better.”

With Mateo Kovacic not playing in the Champions League showdown with Real Madrid on Wednesday night, it’s up to Jorginho and Kante in the centre of the park.
Jorginho has had to silence plenty of doubters during times in his Blues career, but if he can help the team qualify for a Champions League final then surely all previous mistakes will be forgiven.
The Italy international has the individual ability, so it’s just a case of him turning up on his A-game tonight.
