Chelsea and Barcelona have a long and well-documented history in the Champions League, and are set to write another chapter at Stamford Bridge.

It was a brilliant strike from Andres Iniesta in the final moments which caused heartbreak in West London, with many surprised that Barcelona had finally found the breakthrough.

Even the midfielder himself was shocked that he was able to find the net. He told The Athletic that he was surprised he had managed to pull off a shot that could beat Petr Cech.

He said: “There was no clear idea. Once I was there, I was outside the area in case the cross was cleared and went out. I remember when Leo tried to make space to shoot and the Chelsea players came out and left him behind.

“Then the shot was spectacular, the only place I think it could have gone. Besides, Petr Cech is a goalkeeper who is practically two metres tall. It was almost impossible for that ball to go in. It was a crazy moment.”

Chelsea were denied the chance of making it to their second successive Champions League final against Manchester United.
