Andy Townsend delivered a fairly harsh criticism on Joao Felix after Chelsea’s midweek defeat against Real Madrid.

Chelsea trail Real Madrid 2-0 on aggregate after losing yesterday in the first leg of a Champions League quarter-final.

Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio both scored for the Spanish club, who visit Stamford Bridge for next week’s second leg in complete control of the tie.

Joao Felix, 23, is someone receiving a fair amount of criticism in the aftermath of last night’s result.

TalkSPORT pundit Townsend issued a brutal comment about the Blues attacker.

“When Real Madrid counter, they look they’re really going to finish, with Joao Felix, there’s nothing,” Townsend told talkSPORT.

Frank Lampard admitted post-match that Felix and Raheem Sterling found it tough in Chelsea’s loss against Madrid.

It was an unhappy return to the Spanish capital for Felix, who’s still an Atletico Madrid-owned player on loan at Chelsea until the end of the season.

The Portuguese forward had a couple of attempts at goal, including a fantastic opportunity that came at him very early into the contest. His shot inside the box was straight at Thibaut Courtois after bursting beyond the Madrid backline.

It did look very difficult for him to impose himself on the game, which was the same for Raheem Sterling alongside him.

Chelsea yet again missed a focal point in the striker position!

We love the flashes of brilliance from Felix in a game and the way he receives the ball in-between the lines.

We’re starting to worry about his end product, though.
