Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon has named one Chelsea star as someone he would love to play alongside at St James’ Park.

In recent years, Newcastle have enjoyed great success when conducting transfer business with Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The Toon have purchased full-backs Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall, both graduates of the Chelsea academy, from the Blues in the last couple of years. Now, the defensive pair are key players in Eddie Howe’s squad.

Newcastle’s Hall explained it wasn’t easy after leaving Chelsea, but he’s now widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League division.

Anthony Gordon would love Chelsea player at Newcastle

During an interview with That’s Football YouTube channel, Gordon admitted he would pick Chelsea’s Palmer to join his Newcastle side.

When asked to name one England teammate that he’d love to bring to Newcastle, Gordon said: “I’m trying to think of this logically because I don’t want to displace anyone. Right now I’ll probably go with Cole. I don’t think he’d suit our style of play at all, like a pressing style of play, but I think with his quality and what he’s doing at the minute, I’ll probably pick Cole.”

Chelsea fans can sleep easy knowing that talisman Palmer is under contract at the club until 2023. However, let’s hope that they can match his lofty ambitions moving forward.

Paul Merson has been speaking about Palmer’s recent form for Chelsea, where he’s failed to score or assist in his last five games across all competitions. He’s still the star man that everyone is relying on, though.

Will Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon both make new England side?

In March, Thomas Tuchel will name his first ever England squad for a pair of World Cup qualifiers.

Chelsea’s Palmer, along with Newcastle left-winger Gordon, are two players we’re expecting to be firmly in the mix for the new Three Lions manager. The Newcastle speedster is definitely putting a great case together to start in attack with his pace and directness.

Speaking back in December, Jamie Carragher urged England to build the team around Palmer and Jude Bellingham. The Chelsea star has been playing as an out-and-out No 10 this season, while the Real Madrid superstar can play anywhere in the midfield.

For now, Palmer’s focus should be getting his form back for his club because the international stuff should take care of itself.
