Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte said he was impressed by the “fantastic” level of football played between Chelsea and Liverpool in Sunday’s League Cup final.
From Chelsea’s perspective, the ending was not exactly what they had hoped, but even their fans would agree that it was an exciting game of football.
Obviously, there were some questionable refereeing decisions, including one which Trevoh Chalobah openly criticised on social media, which frustrated quite a lot of fans as well.
Thomas Tuchel refused to point his finger at any of his players for the defeat, highlighting that he was happy with their effort.
Former Blues manager Conte is clearly on board with Tuchel’s assessment.

“I want to celebrate the game between Chelsea and Liverpool yesterday,” the Italian said in his press conference (via the Evening Standard.
“It was a great, exciting game to watch.
“This also underlines how difficult it is to win trophies in this country. It was amazing for me and all the people in other countries to watch this game.
“Great congratulations from me to Chelsea and Liverpool, the players, the coaches, for the fans, for the total environment it was a fantastic sport for football.
“I think that England has to be proud about this.”

The Blues will now have to shift their attention to the other domestic cup competition ahead of their visit to Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road for the FA Cup fifth-round tie on Wednesday.
Aside from the FA Cup, Chelsea can still finish a season with another trophy, having bagged a two-goal lead from the first leg against Lille in the Champions League round of 16.
While in the Premier League, they should now realistically target a comfortable top-four finish. As it stands, they are 16 points behind league leaders Manchester City with two games in hand.
